DIY Bathroom Wall Painting
May 20th, 2007 by Eric
So there were a few DIY things that we did to our bathroom. Not only did we paint the walls but we also installed two overhead lights from the original single ugly light, and we changed out all of the cabinet hardware. We finished off the room with a towel holder and a rug to match.
After looking all over the internet for a wallpaper or a wall design that we thought would really freshen up the bathroom we ended up back at Twenty2 wallpapers. We decided to modify the Columbia Heights design they have by making it several times larger and also using our own color palette. To accomplish the look we taped vertical lines around the entire room and then painted between the lines using our orange accent color. After removing the tape we painted white pills between the lines using a stencil to trace the shape and then filling them in with a small paintbrush. I think the results are very bright and clean.
I removed the single overhead light and replaced it with two Fado Pendant Downlights from IKEA. The idea was to emulate a very fifties style bathroom, and I think the effect worked pretty well. The rug was from target and the towel rack was made from two Statist Decoration Trees, also from IKEA.
I hope you like the look. Click more to see more pictures including a before and after shot.
This was the before.
And this is the after! So what do you think?
